Purpose of the Role:
The CAO, working closely with the VP Finance and the CFOs and Financial Controllers and accounting Managers in each market, leads the group accounting function in managing the accounts of all group businesses. The CAO must be comfortable working in a complex and changing environment given the geographies many of the businesses trade it. Being able to understand and react and produce timely and accurate reports for the businesses is a central challenge to the role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Functional Responsibilities
- Leading the accounting share services team to meet Company and Department goals and targets
- Develops and enforces accounting policies and procedures covering all functions, monthly and yearly closing, tax, etc
- Developing and implementing strong financial internal control across the various functional areas of the company
- Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of the consolidated financial statements
- Company’s tax planning preparation
- Liaising and coordinating with auditors
• Knowledge Responsibilities:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards; International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Thai Financial Reporting Standards (TFRS), Thai Tax regulation (especially on Regional Officer Head Quarter (ROH))
- Act as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) to the accounting team and colleagues, providing advice and guidance and also develop their knowledge
• HR Responsibilities:
- Motivate and inspire the team to obtain results, by constructively connecting the interests of the individual employees, the community and the organization.
- Participate actively in the long-term learning or development of others on the basis of a good understanding of their needs and potentials and address performance issues
- Work with the team to set and achieve annual performance objectives for the department and all individuals
• Travel Requirements:
- 10% of the time regionally, sometimes at short notice
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (Master’s Degree is preferable)
- CPA is required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: ESSENTIAL:
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in accounting function or with auditor firm, with at least 5 years leading a department with people management responsibility
- Experience working in a complex, international business environment
- Good experience in consolidation
OTHER:
- Good command of both written and spoken English
- Good knowledge in Accounting principles/ taxation/ internal controls
- Ability to multitask under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Good time management and able to work independently with sense of urgency
- Computer literate and experience with integrated accounting software solutions
- Flexibility, positive attitude and strong contribution for teamwork
