Enterprise Risk Management Manager is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and analyzing risks inherent to the operations of the company. Incumbent will formulate, implement, administer, and evaluate risk management strategies to efficiently and cost-effectively manage those risks. Incumbent must remain informed of all the changes that occur within the company and make the best risk mitigation method decisions based on the changes. Incumbent will participate in forums, risk management educational programs and other educational opportunities to stay abreast of emerging issues affecting the company’s exposure to all risks
Description of Responsibilities
- Responsible for and has the authority to make all decisions on risk management issues that directly impact the strategic direction of the company.
- Sets the strategic risk management vision and is charged with delivering that strategy to the company using exceptional leadership skills, network of internal and external alliances and highly developed business skills.
- Possesses an intimate knowledge of internal business processes and the organization's industry. Exhibits business process knowledge, possesses a broad based operational perspective and provides solutions for non-insurance related business risk issues.
- Seeks ways to optimize risks in the organization as a competitive business advantage.
- Planning, designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the organization.
- Analyzing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimating the risks affecting the business.
- Risk evaluation, comparing estimated risks with criteria established by the organization such as costs, legal requirements and environmental factors, and evaluating the organization’s previous handling of risks;
- Risk reporting to the Head of Risk management and business heads to ensure they are aware of risks relevant to their parts of the business and to individuals to understand their accountability for individual risks;
- Corporate governance involving external risk reporting to stakeholders;
- Carrying out processes such as purchasing insurance, implementing health and safety measures and making business continuity plans to limit risks and prepare for if things go wrong;
- Conducting audits of policy and risk compliance to standards, including liaison with internal and external auditors;
- Providing support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organization.
Skill sets required: Commercial awareness, numerical skills and the ability to evaluate costs and ability to understand broad business issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A master’s degree in finance, business, or economics. Preference for candidates with FRM or PRM certification, or for CFAs. Preference for candidates with undergraduate degree in accounting, or are CPAs.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of broad experience in risk management role, particularly in market risk / liquidity risk management, operating risk management.
- Highly developed communications, team player, change agent, strategic and creative, excellent project management skills and the ability to drive performance from all areas within their company.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Excellent computer skills. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite. Preference for candidates who can program in Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, including good command of written and spoken English.
